2010 – Dartmoor DEVON UK

 

adaptation was a six day residential retreat for professional dance and visual artists that focused on the role of perception, proprioception and perspective through an exploration of the relationship of body and land.

Participants were facilitated using a range of immersive approaches to site based movement and visual performance practices to include body mapping, micro and macro site exploration and topographic movement training.

This interdisciplinary performance investigation culminated in a 6 hour durational event: Open Body Action.

 

'Open Body Actions' operate as a performance proposition where the dancer / performer is encouraged to respond intuitively to the material conditions of the particular landscape through his or her ability to access efficiently those sensory stimuli that are pre-existing in any designated area, enabling a dynamic interchange to occur
